Ph.D. in Computer Science

Enhanced techniques for different CAD stages which play a fundamental role in reducing the inter and intra observer variability gap. In order to enhance the CAD system, an automated segmentation technique has been developed followed by self-driven post-processing operations to effectively identify the Region of Interest. Extensive experiments were carried out to analyze the best feature extraction algorithms and study the variations that how textural, morphological and graph features affect the accuracy of classification. Further the classification technique has been proposed for breast cancer diagnosis based on weighted feature selection using enhanced version of transductive Support Vector Machine (SVM). The practical applicability for CAD framework with the proposed enhanced segmentation and classification techniques can reduce the false diagnosis and improve classification accuracy. Thus, it may act as second opinion tool for pathologist and help in early diagnosis.

Proposal of new algorithms New_SPAM and New_SPADE for finding frequent patterns that consist of both frequent and rare items. Two new approaches namely periodic and minimum item support (Mis) are integrated in the algorithms. The performance of proposed algorithms and approaches are compared against frequent sequence count and running time. Experimental results on real-life datasets show that the proposed approaches and new algorithms have better efficiency over existing algorithms CM_SPADE and CM_SPAM.
